Support Us

OPL’s ability to best serve the community depends on donations from patrons like you! Your contributions to the library help us provide services to all of Otterbein and Benton County, at no extra charge. Donations and community partnerships increased our audiobook collection in 2017, brought Silly Safaris for a magical Christmas in 2018, brought the SkyDome Planetarium to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing in 2019, and funded hundreds of other programs and services.

We accept:

New and gently used books, movies, audiobooks, craft supplies, volunteers, sponsorship, and monetary donations.

Have something you think we could use and want to donate? Give us a call or stop by to chat!

How to make a donation:

Materials

You can call us at 765-583-2107, email director@otterbeinpubliclibrary.org, or visit the library at 23 E 1st Street in Otterbein, Indiana for questions about items for donation.  Please drop large donations off inside the library. Items will be added to our collection for circulation, used for programs, or sold in our book sale. Have a memorial donation? Let us know and a memorial plate will be added to the item donated.

Monetary

Monetary donations can be made in the form of cash or check, and can be dropped off at the library or mailed to the Otterbein Public Library PO Box 550 Otterbein, IN 47970. Electronic web donation payment options coming soon! Monetary donations can also be earmarked for specific funds like books, tech, and crafts, or for programming. We also accept designated legacy donations from wills, trust funds, or memorials. Contact the library for more information or help setting up donations.

The Summer Reading Program is our busiest time of year. Thanks to our community partners in 2019, more than 2,500 adults, teens, and children participated in 123 programs between June 3 and August 3.

Sponsorship:

We love partnering with local and small businesses! Business owners can sponsor a program through monetary donation, and advertise their business/products to patrons during the program. Information about how to purchase products can be given out, but products cannot be sold at the library. Call, visit, or email our Director at director@otterbeinpubliclibrary.org to set up a sponsorship.

Volunteering:

There’s always something to do at OPL! Whether you’re a student needing to fulfill community service hours for a club, or just want to get out of the house for a while, we can always use a hand around the library. Cleaning, shelving, landscaping, and helping with programs are some of the volunteer opportunities available. Kids can also pay down their fines by volunteering.

We recognize all of our partners on our website, in social media, in our newsletter, and in the newspaper. If you have a special request for recognition, or wish to remain anonymous, let us know!
